The 32nd Annual Roll, Stroll & Run event was an awesome community celebration and fundraiser for our foundation! We’d like to thank all of our sponsors, participants, volunteers, and supporters for coming out for a fun morning and afternoon. The success of this event makes all of our hours of planning and organizing worth it.
We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Roll, Stroll & Run raised an estimated $60,000 for Indian Creek Foundation! These funds will help us maintain and update our residential homes in the community. We have 25 homes for our current residents, and those homes need all of the same maintenance and upkeep that any house needs, plus a few customized improvements like accessible ramps and bathrooms. Successful events like the Roll, Stroll & Run help us provide safe and modern homes for our many residents.
2023 Event Highlights
We could not have asked for better weather during the event, which was held on Saturday, June 17th. Though it was a little breezy and cool in the morning, runners and cyclists appreciated the air flow. We were all happy to see the sun, but not too much heat, for our picnic lunch.
We welcomed many new and returning participants, and we tried out an updated 5k race route. This one incorporated a twice around loop to avoid crossing busy Route 113. As runners, cyclists, and walkers came in from their events, they rested in the grass or under one of our tents, mingled with Indian Creek residents, and picked up their well-deserved lunch.
Brass Collar Brewing Co supplied our adult participants with a choice of freshly brewed beers. We are looking forward to the opening of this local craft brewery in the heart of Souderton Borough in the Freight House on Front Street. DJ Amber from Sound Sensation DJs kept the energy levels high with a great mix of dance and sing along favorites. If there’s one thing you should know about the staff and residents of Indian Creek Foundation, it’s that we will make a dance floor anywhere!
Our young participants had fun getting custom made balloon creations, picking face paint designs, playing full size yard games, and jumping all over the bounce house.
Remembering Where it All Started
This year, we also welcomed back the gentlemen who pioneered what has become the Roll, Stroll & Run event. Joe Landis (former CEO of ICF), Vernon Martin, Gene Kropf, and Leon Moyer joined us to talk about how it got started as a bike race and grew from there.
We were honored to hear their stories and show them what their long ago idea has become. That vision has turned into a much loved annual event that raises funds and awareness of our mission. The Roll, Stroll & Run is also one of the few opportunities we have each year to really get our residents and community members together. It’s truly a fun and rewarding day for our staff, our residents, and their families.
