Our psychiatrists and clinicians specialize in working with children and adults who have a dual diagnosis of a mental health challenge and a developmental disability.  Creative therapeutic approaches and recovery focused treatment are provided in a trauma informed setting.  Available services include Individual Therapy, Group Therapy, Family Therapy and Medication Management.

Assessment Services

Initial assessment for the program includes a full bio psychosocial assessment. Other available assessments include comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, psychological evaluation and IQ testing. The comprehensive assessments are performed by licensed clinicians, who are trained in the unique needs of children and adults, who have a dual diagnosis.

Individual Therapy

Creative methods such as play therapy, role playing, stress reduction methods, empowerment models and trauma informed treatment modalities are used to meet the unique needs of dually diagnosed individuals.

Family Therapy

Family therapy helps to define goals for both the individual and the family as they work toward a better state of mental health. Family therapy sessions may require one or more family members to be present.

Psycho-Education

Psycho-education programs are used to teach skills such as children's social skills groups, anger management, how to recognize safe and appropriate boundaries or how to get along with housemates. Psycho-education programs are typically time limited.

Group Therapy

Groups evolve throughout sessions to meet the changing needs of individuals served. Examples of group therapies include Happy, Healthy Life, an adapted illness management and recovery class; Health and Wellness;  Drama and music therapy; and Self-Empowerment.

Medication Management

Our psychiatrists work collaboratively with the individual, family and the team of support staff to ensure a complete assessment of needs, as well as full communication around the need for medication and the ongoing impact of prescribed medications.
